Dulnain Bridge Church Hall – a tin tabernacle in Speyside – has been put on the market by the Church of Scotland.
Erected in 1912, the corrugated iron hall with wooden porch and bellcote is a prominent landmark in the small community but was last used for worship almost a century ago. Since then it has served as a village hall and latterly a snooker and pool club. The single-storey building houses a main hall, kitchen, and toilet.
The building began its life as a place of worship for the local Church of Scotland congregation. This merged with the United Free Church in 1928 and the new unified church met in the traditional stone church of the United Free Church which dated from 1904 and included an adjacent hall. The church remained active until November 2021 when the Church of Scotland closed its kirk in Dulnain Bridge for the final time.
The old tin church occupies a small plot on the southern edge of the village, bordering woodland to the south. The building remains in good overall condition – some windows have been boarded up – and it is weather-tight. The Church of Scotland is seeking offers over £60,000.
The last occupants, Grantown and District Billiards and Snooker Club, which met four nights a week in the hall, moved to new premises in Nethy Bridge in February 2024.
